Augusta National Golf Club: confidential membership process explained

To join the Augusta National Golf Club, it takes more than just a membership fee and golf affinity. The group based out of Augusta, GA has welcomed members such as NFL stars Peyton and Eli Manning, CEO of Amazon (AMZN) Andy Jassy, CEO of Delta Airlines (DAL) Ed Bastian, Bill Gates, and former President Dwight D. Eisenhower, to name a few. But Augusta National operates differently than the standard run-of-the-mill golf club.

This week on Yahoo Finance Sports Report, host Joe Pompliano takes a closer look at the prestigious golf club and explains why membership at Augusta National is so coveted. The group, which includes 300 members, only opens new membership opportunities when previous spots open up, meaning a member would have to die or withdraw their membership for someone new to join. Potential members must be nominated by someone who is already a member of the group. Once accepted into Augusta National, members not only have to pay a $40,000 starting fee, but also have to abide by rules regarding dress code, playing style, and much more.
