Let the New Pagani Huayra R Evo Attack Your Ear Drums
We’ve always had an idea of how the Pagani Huayra R Evo sounds. The hypercar automaker told us so in a teaser back in February. The images were released soon after, and the ultra-exotic showed the beast in motion. But like Clark Kent and Superman, we have never heard or seen these two in the same place. Until now.
Recently captured at the Misano World Circuit in Italy by YouTube car enthusiast 19Bozzy92, the Huayra R Evo loved the apexes and pleased our ears. Despite being fitted with mufflers, Pagani’s naturally aspirated 6.0-liter V12 was pleasing to hungry ears in the growing EV world.
According to 19Bozzy92, optional mufflers ensure that “noise emissions are reduced to within the FIA limit of 110 decibels on sound-restricted tracks.” Even with the right audio equipment, what we hear through the speakers is nowhere near what was heard at the trackside. The YouTuber adds that the mufflers allow for better appreciation of the purpose-built racing engine, “especially the intake noise.”

The V12-R Evo engine produces 888 horsepower at 8,750 rpm and 568 pound-feet of torque. Add a it’s bad (long tail) silhouette and large ring wing, and the Huayra R Evo increases downforce by 45% and aerodynamic efficiency by 21 percent. In addition, its dry weight is 2,337 kilograms. All of this is easy to see as the Pagani steers the Misano track smoothly, effortlessly, and very, very quickly.
Also, remember that the Huayra R Evo has removable roof panels. They were retained during this particular track test, but when removed, Pagani says the open-top configuration increases the static load at the front and rear, increasing downforce by another five percent. The sound of that screeching engine was also deafening. Then, lower the mufflers…whew. If the Pagani V12 is the last thing you hear, would the ears die a glorious death?
