Ramaswamy lays out DOGE’s vision to bring about ‘massive change’ in government: ‘Restoring… accountability’

The incoming head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Vivek Ramaswamy laid out the vision for the new agency during an exclusive interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on Sunday, telling Sunday Morning Futures that the cost-cutting strategy will start with the chief executive. act and lay the groundwork for Congress to do its part.

“The failure of the executive body must be corrected because the dirty little secret right now is the people we choose to run the government, they are not the ones who really run the government. caused by administrative action will be corrected by administrative action,” he said.

“Think about the Supreme Court environment. Over the last few years, they’ve held many of those regulations unconstitutional to a large extent. Take those laws back, put those laws back, and that gives us the industrial sense to shrink the size of that bureaucracy. And the beauty of all of this is that it can be achieved by taking a higher outside of Congress, and look at those big parts of the federal budget that need to be addressed one by one,” he continued.

Ramaswamy promised to bring about “dramatic change” “quickly and very quickly.”

Earlier this month, President-elect Donald Trump tapped Ramaswamy and business magnate Elon Musk to lead the newly formed DOGE, which aims to propose ways to deregulate government and restructure government agencies from an outside-of-government perspective.

Since DOGE is not an official government agency, neither Musk nor Ramaswamy are considered official cabinet members and will not be employees of the agency.

Their work is expected to be completed by July 4, 2026 – the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

According to Ramaswamy, the major changes expected to come from the top positions will lay the groundwork for the Congress to “take meaningful steps” in reducing the budget going forward.

“This is about restoring self-governance and accountability to America. Elected leaders, if they make bad decisions, the voters have a good decision. You can vote them out and remove them. Most of the people who make these decisions in health care. in the Department of Defense fail to function properly because they lack accountability. Historically, it has been the opinion of many scholars to say that those people they couldn’t even be fired given to us in recent years, and we will use that in a very broad way to move quickly,” he explained.

After Trump announced his nomination, Ramaswamy withdrew from consideration for the Ohio Senate seat vacated by Vice President-elect JD Vance.

Ramaswamy and Musk both supported Trump during the 2024 election cycle, campaigning for the president-elect in key battlegrounds that largely determined the outcome of the race.

They also joined the president-elect and other key allies and nominees at UFC 309 at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Saturday night.

Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris on November 5, walking away with a landslide victory after sweeping all seven swing states.
