MONTREAL, Nov. 18, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — NioBay Metals Inc. (“NioBay” or the “Company”) (TSX-V: NBY) (OTCQB: NBYCF) is proud to announce the initiation of pilot-scale production tests as planned in our 2024 work plan. In addition, we agreed to send pilot samples to two potential niobium oxide customers.
Work
Project: “Demonstration of the niobium-tantalum concentration process on an experimental scale and the production of niobium and tantalum oxides from the Crevier Project deposit located in the Lac St-Jean region” was carried out at the SGS facilities in Quebec City. The Crevier Project is located in the Nitassinan territory (or ancestral territory) of Pekuakamiulnuatsh, whose main population center is Mashteuiatsh.

Samples produced in Quebec City will then be sent to potential customers. The samples will then be tested at the customer’s premises to check if the product meets their desired requirements.
A message from the President and CEO of NioBay
“We are happy with the start of the work and the discussions we have had with potential customers. It is clear that a North American producer of niobium oxide is desirable in this market. If the Company is able to produce more finished product, some samples will be sent to other potential customers. We are already planning the next steps for our Crevier Project,” concludes Jean-Sébastien David.

In addition to other properties, NioBay has a 100% interest in the James Bay Niobium Project located 45 km south of Moosonee, in the Moose Cree Traditional Territory of the James Bay Lowlands in Ontario. NioBay also owns a 72.5% interest in the Crevier Niobium and Tantalum project located in Quebec and the Nitassinan area of the Pekuakamiulnuatsh First Nation. The Company also has an opportunity to acquire an 80% interest in the Foothills project, a titanium-phosphate project located near the former St-Urbain mine in Quebec.
About Niobium
Niobium is a naturally occurring element. It is a ductile, soft and highly corrosion resistant metal. Because it improves its properties and performance, niobium is used in a variety of materials and applications in the fields of Mobility, Structural and Energy. Niobium transforms building materials. When added to materials such as steel, glass and aluminum castings, niobium makes them more efficient and reduces environmental impacts, while also increasing value.
About Titanium
Titanium (Ti) is as strong as steel, but much denser. It is therefore important as an alloying agent with many metals, including aluminum, molybdenum and iron. These alloys are widely used in aircraft and aerospace applications due to their low density and ability to withstand high temperatures. They are also used in sports equipment, laptops, bicycles and medical prostheses. Recently, this metal has been used in other battery components.
