KFC opens 1,000th store in Guangzhou, China
Yum China Holdings has marked a significant milestone with the opening of the 1,000th KFC store in Guangzhou province, China.
The milestone underscores the brand’s strong growth in the Chinese market since its entry in 1987.
Next to this landmark store, the 100th KCOFFEE cafe in Guangdong province was also launched, showing the popularity of the integrated business model.

Yum China’s strategy has seen the KCOFFEE model expanded to more than 500 locations across the country, with plans to reach 600 by the end of 2024.
The launch of the KFC brand in China began in Beijing’s Qianmen area and the brand now has 11,000 stores across the country.
The expansion in Guangdong province has been particularly notable, with the region serving as a testing ground for new products and business models.
Innovations such as self-serve food trucks and breakfast restaurants in subway stations have been piloted there.
In October 2024, KPRO, a new KFC concept store offering healthy and nutritious food options, was opened in Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
