The son of a Norwegian princess has been arrested for rape

The son of Norwegian princess Mette-Marit has been arrested on suspicion of rape.

Marius Borg Høiby, 27, is the adopted son of the heir to the Norwegian throne, Crown Prince Haakon, but has no royal title or official duties.

On Tuesday, Norwegian police said Mr Høiby had been charged with having sex “with a person who is unconscious or for other reasons unable to resist the act”.

Mr Høiby, who reportedly denies the allegations of rape, is facing a number of charges that he allegedly committed against four other victims.

In a statement, the police said the rape was “worrying [a] having sex without sex” and that the victim “was said to be unable to resist this act”.

According to local reports, the Norwegian palace declined to comment on Mr Høiby’s recent arrest.

Mr Høiby was arrested by police at 23:12 (22:12 GMT) on Monday in a car with the victim of a different incident.

In connection with this separate incident, on August 4, he faces charges of violence and criminal damage.

The police said On Tuesday the charges were expanded to include “mistreatment” of an intimate partner and “other violations” of a restraining order against the same victim.

They also said that a report has been made for driving without a driver’s license.

Mr Høiby’s property in Skaugum, close to where the prince and his wife live, was also searched by the police.

Mr Høiby was also charged with harassing former girlfriends Julianne Snekkestad and Nora Haukland, and threatening a man.
