Authorities believe a Jordanian immigrant caught trying to enter the US through its northern border is a terrorist, according to ICE Enforcement Removal Operations in Seattle.
Mohammed Hasan Abdellatif Albana, 41, was captured near the border north of Lynden, Washington, the agency said in a press release on Wednesday. It is unclear when or where he entered the country.
US immigration officials have identified Albana as a “known or suspected terrorist,” the agency said.
Albana was returned to Jordan on November 15 after an immigration process, according to the organization.

“ERO Seattle is committed to removing non-citizens who pose a threat to the security of the U.S. Our officers are conducting these removals responsibly as part of an effort to strengthen law enforcement to protect Pacific Northwest Communities,” said ERO Seattle Field Office Director Drew. During the Biden administration, Border Patrol agents have apprehended 300 immigrants whose names appear on the list of terrorists crossing the country’s northern and southern borders, according to data from the Customs and Border Patrol.

The report, citing information provided to committee staff in June, also found that the Border Patrol has met with immigrants on terrorist lists from 36 different countries — including terrorist hotspots. Those countries include Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, Tajikistan and Yemen.
