First Unbound Collection in western Japan to open in Nara

A Hyatt affiliate has reached a business agreement with JR Tokai Hotels for the establishment of Hotel NEI Nara in the city of Nara, Japan.

The property marks the first hotel in western Japan and the third in Japan under the Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand, following Fuji Speedway Hotel and Hotel Toranomon Hills.

The Central Japan Railway Company, JR Tokai Real Estate, and JR Tokai Hotels are collaborating on the project.

The Unconsolidated Group has 39 other properties in its global portfolio.

Hyatt Japan and Micronesia vice president Sam Sakamura said: “We are honored to partner for the first time with JR Tokai Group to bring Hyatt’s Unbound Collection to western Japan.

“We look forward to the opening of this luxury hotel that will attract guests and World of Hyatt members from around the world.”

Known as the spiritual center where Buddhism first flourished in Japan, Nara has eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The city is a prime tourist destination with well-preserved temples, shrines, and gardens of natural beauty.

Hotel NEI Nara offers access to Kintetsu Nara Station and JR Nara Station, which connect travelers to Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo via express train services.

Visitors can explore local attractions such as Nara Park, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Kofuku-ji Temple, and Todai-ji Temple.

Central Japan Railway Company President Shunsuke Niwa said: “We are honored by this partnership with Hyatt. With our first planned base in this beautiful city, we are excited to work with the local community to create even more attractive tourism opportunities in Nara. We hope to attract domestic and international travelers to experience rich in culture in this historic and spiritual city.”

In June, Hyatt Hotels expanded its presence in Japan with the launch of the Hyatt Namba Osaka franchise.
