Pro-life groups sound out loud after Trump says he won’t restrict abortion pills: ‘big and growing threat’

Pro-life leaders are lamenting the “great and growing threat” of chemical abortion pills after President-elect Trump said he would not block access to the pills as president.
Abortion pills, also known as chemical abortions, are now the most common method of abortion, accounting for more than 60% of all abortions in the US.
In an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press” this past weekend, Trump was asked if he would ban access to the abortion pill through executive action.
Trump replied unequivocally that “the answer is no.”

He added: “I’m probably going to stick with what I’ve been saying for the past two years,” that abortion is a state, not an organization issue.
Pressed on whether he would commit to not banning abortion pills, the president-elect said: “I commit” but circumstances may change.
“Are things changing? I think they are,” he continued, pointing to how President Biden pardoned his son Hunter Biden after repeatedly doing otherwise.
“I don’t like to put myself in a situation like this,” he said. “So, things are changing, but I don’t think it will change at all.”

Access to chemical abortion was greatly expanded under the Biden administration, which permanently removed the requirement that the pills be given by personal appointment and allowed the drugs to be delivered by mail or obtained from retail pharmacies such as CVS or Walgreens.
In a statement sent to Fox News Digital, Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, said “unregulated, mail-order drugs are a serious and growing threat to women’s health and safety, and to women’s health. a lot of unborn children, all over this country.”
While criticizing the “reckless actions” of the Biden-Harris administration to expand access to abortion pills, Dannenfelser said “nobody who cares about the health and well-being of women can afford to ignore this problem.”
Referring to the recent deaths of Catherine Herring, Amber Thurman, Candi Miller and Alyona Dixon due to problems with abortion pills, Dannenfelser said “even the pro-abortion media cannot hide that these drugs are killing women and fueling new dangerous forms of domestic violence.”

Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life Action, expressed hope for Trump to see the dangers of unrestricted access to chemical abortions, telling Fox News Digital: “A lot of leaders are just learning how the pills hurt women and the environment.”
“We have a lot to say about the Trump-Vance administration,” Hawkins said, adding, “President Trump has shown that he is a rational leader who makes decisions based on the best information available.”
“We hope to be ambassadors for change, providing new information about how the changes made by the Biden-Harris administration regarding the abortion pill policy are putting women at risk, childbirth, and death, empowering abusers and allowing the contamination of drinking water by overflowing medical waste,” she said. “So, we look forward to a frank discussion about what three Democratic Party presidents have done to help their friends at Big Abortion Pharma. We can’t wait to give President Trump the new information he needs to act.”

Meanwhile, Brian Burch, president of the conservative activist group “CatholicVote,” told Fox News Digital that Trump’s admission that “things are changing,” shows that he “will be open to addressing the body of evidence that shows how dangerous these drugs are to women.”
“Big Pharma has exploited many women for a long time, and the abortion industry should not win when it comes to drug laws and evidence-based laws,” she said. “Given President Trump’s pro-life record, and the staff he has appointed to key positions, we are hopeful that the new administration will take a close look at these drugs and act accordingly.”
