Massive Russian airstrikes have targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure
The Russian military launched another heavy air attack with drones and missiles in Ukraine overnight, the Ukrainian Air Force reported on Friday.
Dozens of MiG-31 fighter jets armed with Kinzhal hypersonic missiles have departed, it said.
Military experts say the Kinzhal missiles were fired at targets in western Ukraine near the Burshtyn gas station and the Starokostiantyniv military base. A number of cruise missiles attacked the Odessa region in southern Ukraine, they said.
At first there was no official guarantee.
Ukraine’s Energy Minister German Galushchenko posted on Facebook that the energy industry has been hit hard again. Details on the damage caused will be available when the security situation permits, he said.
Precautionary blackouts were introduced in many regions to prevent grid overload.
Four people were injured in Kharkiv region in the northeast, the military governor of the region, Oleh Syniehubov, wrote on Telegram. Kharkiv City Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that the plane hit a residential building.
The Russian military has repeatedly targeted energy infrastructure in Ukraine during the cold winter months since launching its full-scale offensive in February 2022.
