Top Harris aide calls out powerful activist who said ‘America deserved 9/11’ while plotting Dems future

A top aide in the failed presidential campaign of Vice President Harris recently appealed to many cultural voices such as the anti-American and anti-Israel Twitch star, Hasan Piker, who once faced criticism that “America deserved 9/11.”

Harris’ former deputy campaign manager, Rob Flaherty, said in a recent interview that Democrats are “losing their culture” and challenged them to build “an entire successful program” before the next election.

“We need a thriving ecosystem,” Flaherty told Semafor. “It’s not just Pod Save America, although I think we should have more of them. It’s not just Hasan Piker. We have to have more Hasan Pikers. And it’s the cultural creators, the people who come out and influence a non-partisan audience. All those things have to happen. together.”

“The truth is that it will not be large media organizations. It will be a network and a constellation of individual personalities, because that’s how people get their information now,” he added.

Flaherty, who previously served as the director of digital strategy for the Biden White House, is likely to face criticism for calling many “Hasan Pikers” because of Piker’s past controversial comments. Piker, who once raised more than $1 million for Palestinian aid, has used his platform of millions of followers to denigrate and justify terrorist attacks like the Oct. 7 and 9/11 as acts of resistance in recent years.

During a 2019 live broadcast, Piker praised the “brave soldier” who wounded U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, while deployed to Afghanistan as a Navy SEAL, asking, “He didn’t go to war and, like, lose his eye literally because some mujahideen, a brave soldier, — closed the d— eye hole?”

He went on to say that “America was right on 9/11, I say,” before retracting it and saying “it’s wrong.” However, in another broadcast this year, Piker once again made a joke about 9/11, saying, “Oh my god, 9/11 2 you’re going to be so sick” and “give Saudi Arabia a nuke so they can do 9/ 11 2. “

In another broadcast, Piker broadcast propaganda from the Houthis, an Iranian-backed group in Yemen designated by the US as a terrorist group. Instead of clearly talking about the material being used as questionable propaganda, the broadcaster instead expressed sympathy and admiration for the team.

“They make music, like, their f—ing actions all the time,” Piker said of the terrorist propaganda. “They like to walk like the American flag and the Israeli flag, side by side.”

“They don’t care about big missiles … they’re going to take the war to them no matter what. … To them, it’s an act of resistance. You know what I mean?” he added.

“It doesn’t matter f—ing the rape happened on October 7,” Piker said on the May 22 broadcast. “It doesn’t change the dynamics [of Palestinians and Israelis] mine.”

During the April 18 stream, Piker also stated that Hamas was a “lesser evil” next to the Israeli military.

While Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., and others were on stage for Piker, Dem Rep. Ritchie Torres of New York wrote a letter this year to top executives at Twitch and Amazon expressing “alarm about the rise of antisemitism on Twitch at the hands of Hasan Piker” and said that Piker “has emerged as the poster child after -October 7th outbreak of antisemitism in America.”

“Out of context on October 7th, Mr. Piker has gone so far as to make jokes and joke about men raping women on a college campus and put a picture of a gun over the United States Senate in what appears to be an open invitation to shoot. Violence against an elected official,” Torres said. “Inviting for your followers to shoot an elected official, whether done actively or in jest, is the kind of threat that needs the serious attention of law enforcement.”

Piker’s Twitch streams often reach over a million views and often have around 30,000 viewers at any given time.

Fox News Digital reached out to Flaherty for comment but did not receive a response.
