Neil Cavuto Leaves Fox News After Nearly 30 Years
Neil Cavuto will leave Fox News after 28 years at the network, Mediaite first reported Thursday.
“Neil Cavuto has had an outstanding career in journalism and we are very proud of his 28 years of service with FOX News Media,” a Fox News spokesperson told HuffPost in a statement. “His programs defined business issues and set the standard for the entire industry. We wish him a heartfelt farewell and all the best in his next chapter.”
Thursday will be Cavuto’s last day, said a spokesperson for the department.
According to Mediaite, Cavuto’s contract will expire at the end of the month, and he will present the news of his departure to viewers on his show “Your World” on Thursday.
The news veteran has been with the network since its inception in 1996. He was the host of “Your World” on weekday afternoons, and “Cavuto Live” on Saturday mornings and the Fox Business show “Cavuto: Coast to Coast” on weekdays.
Cavuto’s exit “is not the result of any bad blood, but rather a common reality of the industry: Cavuto was offered a new contract, and he refused to accept it,” Mediaite reported.
He is one of the few on-air personalities at Fox News who has been willing to criticize Donald Trump and his on-air lies, often drawing rebuke from viewers of the conservative network and the president-elect.
