Stewart Cink will move to the Champions Tour in 2025

Stewart Cink has committed to playing full-time on the PGA Tour Champions circuit in 2025.

Cink, 51, who joined the PGA Tour in 1997, has eight career wins in 689 events. He earned about $44 million.

Winner of The Open Championship in 2009, Cink’s last PGA Tour victory came in 2021 at the RBC Heritage.

“I love playing the PGA Tour, but I’ve been doing it for a long time, and I’m getting wiser for my age,” Cink told Golfweek. “It’s not that fun. If every day was Thursday to Sunday, if it was just a competition, I’d still be doing it. But the practice rounds, the range, the lobby, the restaurant, sometimes, you have to be among your friends, and my people are on the Champions Tour So I told my wife, ‘I think it’s time for a change.

He finished No. 173 on the FedEx Cup list for 2024, and said his wife, Lisa, agreed with his decision.

“Whenever we talked about the Champions Tour, he always said, ‘He’s still a PGA Tour asset,’ but this time he’s like, ‘I was thinking the same thing.’ He said, ‘I’m with you on that.’ So, [it] you feel good,” Cink told Golfweek.

In 2024, Cink played in 11 Championship events and finished in the Top 10 nine times, including a win at The Ally Challenge in Grand Blanc, Mich., in August.

“I have this window, I don’t want to look back and say I didn’t use it,” he said. “I have a chance to maybe do something great out there. So, I’m moving on. I’m ready. I feel good about it and I’m happy.”
