Liberal comedian Bill Maher has dismissed diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts as an empty expression of the left doing nothing to address racial divides or inequality in the US.
In a new episode of the “Club Random” podcast released Sunday, Maher was joined by late-night icon Jay Leno, where the two discussed DEI efforts at institutions and companies across the US.

Maher said “good signings and things they do to make themselves feel better about being partners” are a distraction from solving the root of the problem.
“You want to be a good partner, face the real problems. Any racial problems in this country are not solved by DEI and having programs like that,” he said flatly.
The solution, according to Maher, comes down to three things.
“Better schools. Don’t graduate kids who don’t know anything and don’t have skills,” he said. “A lot of fathers. And the drug war. Those are the things that work and that’s not what they care about.”
Maher often uses his podcast to speak out against the left’s embrace of the woke culture. Last year he announced, “We’ve reached this point where you can’t even get close to a topic, certain topics, without the crowd following you.”

In an in-depth analysis of why the Democratic Party lost after the November election, Maher told his audience, “Make no mistake, this election was about what I’ve been saying here and lost a lot of supporters for saying over the years, that this country has been able to raise bulls—.”
In June, Maher said there was “weaponization” of White’s guilt and an attempt to exaggerate racism in America as he debated the issue with liberal journalist Kara Swisher on her podcast.

DEI programs have become a major source of investment in recent years, but their actual performance is still the subject of debate with many wondering whether they are more likely to exacerbate tensions than alleviate them.

Pressure on the private sector to drop its DEI obligations has brought about a dramatic shift as critics denounce them as discriminatory and ineffective. Recently, Walmart, Nissan and American Airlines have joined the growing list of large companies to stop the so-called “resurrection”, and others are expected to follow.
