25 people survived a plane crash in Kazakhstan that killed dozens, officials said
An Azerbaijan Airlines passenger plane from the capital of Kazakhstan, Baku, to Grozny, Russia, crashed on Wednesday in western Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Ministry of Transport said.
The country’s emergency department said the plane had 62 passengers and five crew members on board and 25 people survived. 22 were hospitalized, the department said.
Azerbaijan Airlines, that country’s flag carrier, said the Embraer 190 “made an emergency landing” about two kilometers from Aktau, an oil and gas center on the east coast of the Caspian Sea.
Crews extinguished the fire in the area, emergency services said.
