Trump and Biden offer Christmas greetings as the US moves closer to a transition of power

As the presidential transition approaches, President-elect Trump and President Biden have both marked the Christmas holiday, with Biden admitting that it will be his last time as president to wish the nation a Merry Christmas.

Trump, who will be sworn in on Jan. 20, he exclaimed in a Truth Social post, “MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!” In another post he shared a picture of himself with his wife Melania – the picture has the message “MERRY CHRISTMAS!”

In a post on @POTUS’s presidential X account, Biden said: “For the last time as your president, it is my honor to wish all of America a Merry Christmas. My hope for our nation, today and forever, is that we continue to seek the light of freedom and love, kindness and compassion, dignity and and modesty May God bless you all.

A post on the @JoeBiden X account with a photo of the president and first lady Jill Biden read, “Merry Christmas, everyone!”

Trump – who defeated Vice President Harris in the November election – made history this year by becoming the second president to win two consecutive terms. The first was Grover Cleveland in the 19th century. While the new year will mark a new chapter in Trump’s political career, it also marks the end of Biden’s decade at the highest levels of Washington politics.

Biden, the oldest president in US history, dropped out of the 2024 presidential race earlier this year amid intense pressure from his own party after a widely watched debate against Trump.
