Zelenskyy criticizes Putin for Christmas strikes: ‘What could be more brutal?’
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday for launching an attack on energy infrastructure on Christmas Day.
Zelenskyy suggested that the attack was “bad,” but said it would not spoil Christmas.
“Today, Putin deliberately chose Christmas to attack. What could be more inhuman violence? More than 70 missiles, including ballistic, and more than 100 drones to attack. The target is our energy infrastructure. They continue to fight to cut off electricity in Ukraine, “Missile Features more than 70, including ballistic, and more than 100 drones. ” he said in a post to X.
Russia’s Defense Ministry acknowledged a “major strike” on its part, saying it hit power plants that support “Ukraine’s military and industrial base,” Reuters reported.
“The aim of the strike has been achieved. All institutions have been hit,” said the Ministry.

The strikes against oil and energy sources in Ukraine included surface-to-air, surface-to-surface and sea-based missiles, more than 106 Shahed and other types of drones, the Ukrainian Air Force said, according to the Associated Press.
“Unfortunately, there have been hits. As of now, there are power outages in several regions. Power engineers are working to quickly restore electricity,” noted Zelenskyy.
Nevertheless, the Ukrainian leader declared that “Russian evil will not break Ukraine and will not ruin Christmas.”

The US has provided billions of dollars in aid to help Ukraine fight off a Russian invasion in 2022, but Americans and congressional representatives are divided over whether the US should continue providing aid to Ukraine.
President-elect Trump, who will take office on Jan. 20, he has called for a cessation of violence and negotiations.

In an article on “Social Truth” this month, Trump announced that “Zelenskyy and Ukraine would like to make a deal and stop the madness. They have lost ridiculously 400,000 soldiers, and many civilians. There must be an immediate end and negotiations must begin.”
