Captain Igor Kshnyakin and co-pilot Alexander Kalyaninov, both of Russian origin with Azerbaijani citizenship, and Hokuma Aliyeva, who served on the plane, were buried in Baku.
Earlier on Sunday, they were fully honored at a memorial ceremony at the Alley of Honor in central Baku attended by Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and his wife, Mehriban.
The pilots were praised in Azerbaijan for landing in a way that allowed 29 people to survive but resulted in their deaths.
The Embraer EMBR3.SA passenger plane had flown from Azerbaijan’s capital Baku to Grozny, in the southern region of Chechnya, before drifting hundreds of kilometers across the Caspian Sea.
The Alley of Honor is the holiest modern burial ground in Azerbaijan – where prominent politicians, poets and scientists are laid to rest.
