Nicole Eggert made a surprising revelation about her days on the iconic TV series “Baywatch.”
For more than a decade, fans around the world have tuned in to watch the sport’s team of lifeguards in red swimsuits run slowly down California’s sun-drenched beaches. While the weather on “Baywatch” appears to be perfect, Eggert, 52, told Fox News Digital that in reality, he and his co-stars endured freezing temperatures during filming.
“The cold days you have — the bad always outweighs the good,” he said with a laugh when asked what he remembers most about his time on “Baywatch.”

Eggert continued, “So, it was like being on the beach is the most amazing job in the world. But cold days, cold days, rainy days and you have to be at the beach — you’re going, ‘What am I doing?’

“You know, fighting hypothermia. Like just trying to find a dry towel anywhere,” he added. “Those were really tough times.”
The actress – who is currently battling cancer – played bodyguard Summer Quinn in two seasons of “Baywatch” from 1992 to 1994. The beach drama series, which ran from 1989 to 2001, featured a cast that included David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, Michael. Newman, Alexandra Paul, Jeremy Jackson, Gregory Alan Williams, David Chokachi, Parker Stevenson, Geena Lee Nolan, Billy Warlock, Erika Eleniak, David Charvet and Yasmine Bleeth among others.

“Baywatch” was filmed mostly at Santa Monica’s Will Rogers State Beach, although some scenes were shot in Long Beach and Malibu. In season 10, the show was renamed “Baywatch: Hawaii,” when production moved to the islands from 1999 to 2001.

“Baywatch” premiered in 1989, but the show was canceled by NBC after one season due to low ratings and high production costs. However, “Baywatch” found new life through sales and went on to become a ratings juggernaut and cultural phenomenon.
At its peak, the series was the most-watched show in the world, drawing 1.1 billion viewers a week, according to Forbes.
The success of “Baywatch” spawned the spin-off series “Baywatch Nights” and three direct-to-video movies, including “Baywatch the Movie: Forbidden Paradise,” “Baywatch: White Thunder at Glacier Bay” and “Baywatch: The Wedding from Hawaii.”
In 2017, “Baywatch” was adapted into a film of the same name, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Zac Efron and Alexandra Daddario with Hasselhoff and Anderson reprising their original roles. The film was a box office hit, earning $177.9 million in worldwide ticket sales.

Last March, Fox Entertainment and “Baywatch’s” production company Fremantle announced a TV reboot of the show, with Lara Olsen serving as writer and executive producer of the series.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Daily News, Eggert, a former child actor who had recurring roles on the cop drama “TJ Hooker” and the sitcom “Who’s the Boss” and starred in the sitcom “Charles in Charge,” explained why he became has decided to leave “Baywatch” after its fourth season.
“I needed to grow up and work on myself,” she said. “At that time, to be happy, I just needed to take some time off.”

During his interview with Fox News Digital, Eggert shared his thoughts on how celebrity life in the ’90s differs from star culture today.

“I think the word ‘celebrity’ is being used a lot more loosely now,” she said. “It covers a lot, if I may say so.”
“And celebrity has its own quirks, because the ’90s aren’t funny anymore,” Eggert continued. “So, it’s actually fun, because people enjoy thinking about the 90s players and the characters and the people who watched them.”
“So, it’s a good time right now because the ’90s are cool again, so that’s good for me,” he added with a laugh.

Eggert recently produced the Hulu docuseries “Baywatch: Moment in the Sun,” which explored how the show became a global hit and the struggles the cast faced after their sudden rise to fame. According to Hulu, the documentary features never-before-seen home videos and interviews with more than 35 actors and creators.
While producing “Baywatch: Moment in the Sun,” Eggert was facing a serious health crisis after being diagnosed with Stage 2 cribriform carcinoma of the breast in December 2023.
In an August interview with People magazine, Eggert said that working on docuseries and raising her 12-year-old daughter Keegan inspired her in her battle with cancer.
“Having a young daughter and having this job has been a big interest for me to not just sit and think about my life and my life,” said Eggert, who is also the mother of daughter Dilyn, 25, told the media.
“It gives me purpose,” he added. “It keeps me going every day. I think life always has a reason. It’s been a huge distraction, and my daughters keep me on my toes.”
After receiving her diagnosis, Eggert underwent a mastectomy. The actor completed chemotherapy earlier this year and has recently started his radiation treatment.

While speaking with Fox News Digital, Eggert shared that her “Baywatch” co-stars have extended their support during her health struggles. He noted that he was in the middle of shooting “Baywatch: Moment in the Sun” when he received treatment, and many of his characters appeared on social media.
“So, I’ve been communicating a lot with a lot of actors,” she said. “Almost all the actors. And, yes, many of them have been very supportive and reached out. Alexandra Paul, Brande Roderick, Gina Lee, Erika Eleniak . . . David Chokachi, these are people who really love me and make sure I’m okay.

The actress also thought about the advice she would give to the younger one.
“I would tell my child not to be so afraid of life – to just go out and enjoy things,” she said. “You have nothing to lose. Go live, you know?”
He continued, “I spent so many years being afraid and holding things back and hiding things and pretending everything was fine. And you don’t have to do that. You don’t have to do that.”

“It feels so good to face the darkness and bring that darkness to the darkness and enjoy yourself. It’s not that serious,” he added.
