A court has issued an arrest warrant for South Korean President Yoon

A South Korean court on Tuesday approved an arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk Yeol, who was impeached and removed from office over his decision to impose martial law on December 3, authorities said.

The High Officials Corruption Investigation Office confirmed that the Seoul Western District Court approved the letter.

This is the first warrant for the arrest of a South Korean president, according to the media.

On Monday, South Korean investigators sought an arrest warrant for Yoon in connection with the temporary imposition of martial law this month.

Yoon is facing a possible criminal investigation for treason.
