The Kremlin, when Trump wants peace talks in Ukraine, says Moscow is open to talks on certain conditions
MOSCOW (Reuters) – The Kremlin said on Sunday that Russia was open to talks on Ukraine after US President-elect Donald Trump called for an “immediate ceasefire and talks”.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the peace talks should be based on the agreements reached in Istanbul in 2022 and on the current realities on the battlefield.
Peskov noted that Ukraine has blocked communication with the Russian leadership through a special law which he said will have to be withdrawn if negotiations continue.

“Our position in Ukraine is well known; the conditions for an immediate cessation of hostilities were set by President Putin in his speech with the Russian Foreign Ministry in June of this year. It is important to remember that it is Ukraine that refused and continues to refuse negotiations,” said Peskov.
