More than 300 People Flee the Fire in South Korea

Hundreds of people were forced to flee a fire that broke out in an eight-story building in southern Seoul on Friday afternoon, with video footage showing several people trapped on the roof awaiting rescue.
Fire officials received reports of the fire around 4:40 p.m. in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, and were on the scene within an hour, the fire department said. About 300 people were said to be in the building when the fire broke out.
The responders said they rescued 240 people and 70 others got out of the building on their own. No deaths were reported, but about 30 people were hospitalized with minor injuries, including smoke inhalation.
Videos from a local news station show footage of the building engulfed in flames. Black smoke billowed from the windows and people gathered on the roof of the building waiting to be rescued.
Officials said the fire broke out on the first floor but have yet to release an official cause. The building has five underground floors.
