A fish truck crashed in northern Germany on Saturday, scattering hundreds of trout on the road.
In this accident, four people were injured, one of them seriously, and hundreds of fish species died, said a police spokesperson.
According to initial findings, the 56-year-old truck driver skidded on the icy road and stopped on the tracks. Another truck hit it, pushing it into the central barrier, where it hit a car traveling on the other side.
The passenger of the car was seriously injured in the accident, while the driver of the fish transporter and his passenger were slightly injured.
The fish transporter was carrying 7,100 kilograms of live trout, a police spokesman said, adding that it was not clear how many were stranded on the road or died.
Both lanes are closed and evacuation operations are underway. Police estimated the material damage at around €200,000 ($206,000).
