Demi Moore wins her first Golden Globe

Demi Moore received her first Golden Globe trophy on Sunday for her role in “The Substance.”

As she took the stage to accept the award, Moore, 61, admitted she was “nervous.”

“I’ve been doing this for a long time, almost 45 years, and this is the first time I’ve won anything as an actor,” Moore told the audience at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

In “The Substance,” Moore starred as an actress who was unfairly kicked out of her gym at age 50, considered too old to be desirable.

In an effort to continue his career, he uses a magical drug that promises to produce a much smaller version of himself, played by Margaret Qualley, though it comes with a bloody and brutal price.

After catching his breath and explaining that he was “humbled, very grateful,” Moore recalled a time in his career when a producer told him he was a “popcorn player.”

“At the time, I made that mean that this wasn’t something I was allowed to have … that couldn’t be recognized,” Moore said.

“I bought, and I believed that … that saved me more time.”

He added, “I thought a few years ago that this was it. Maybe I was perfect, I did what I had to do. At a low point, this bonkers document came across my desk. The universe told me ‘I’m not done.’

Moore remembered the woman telling him to stop competing with others, that he would never be “enough,” but how important it was to know his worth if he was going to “put down the marking stick.”

Before she left the stage, the “GI Jane” actress said the award was “a reminder that I belong.”
