Ashok Chandra takes over as MD of PNB, Binod Kumar as head of Indian Bank

Ashok Chandra took over as MD and CEO of Punjab National Bank (PNB) while Binod Kumar took charge of Indian Bank on Thursday following a government notification regarding their respective appointments. Chandra, Executive Director at Canara Bank, replaced Atul Kumar Goel as PNB MD and CEO.

Chandra started his banking career with the erstwhile Corporation Bank in 1991 as a probationary officer and served as branch head at various locations and handled multiple responsibilities as regional/major banking districts across the country, PNB said in a regulatory filing.

He has also worked overseas when he was in charge of the bank’s representative office in Dubai, UAE.

On the other hand, Kumar, a senior director at PNB, has been appointed MD and CEO of Chennai-based Indian Bank.

Kumar started his banking journey at PNB as a management trainee in 1994 and became the managing director of PNB in ​​November 2022.

Kumar succeeds SL Jain who retired as MD and CEO of Indian Bank last month.
