The police are investigating the incident, and they believe the stabbing was part of an attempted burglary, said Dixit Gedam, deputy commissioner of the Mumbai police. Police are looking for one suspect who has been identified, he said. “We know that the criminal used a fire escape gun to enter the house,” said Mr. Damn.

Mr. Khan was severely injured in the spine, and deep wounds in the arm and neck, according to Dr. Nitin Dange of Lilavati Hospital, where he was being treated. He had undergone surgery and the knife was removed and the spinal fluid was leaking.
