Zelensky announces action against ‘traitors’

Ukrainian authorities on Saturday took action against “traitors” President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his daily speech.

“Today, the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine also did very well: the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation, the National Police and our Prosecutor’s Office,” Zelensky said.

“The traitors and various programs that have weakened our country and our Ukrainian society are being fought. And anyone who opposes Ukraine or disobeys the laws of Ukraine must remember that they will face a response.”

The president did not provide details about the action.

However, Ukraine’s intelligence agency SBU and the public prosecutor’s office issued an unusually large number of statements during the day about suspected collaborators and Russian agents who were detained. The statements could not be independently verified.

The SBU, for example, reported the arrest of a department head at a state-owned bank. The bank manager was allegedly involved in financing the war between Russia and Ukraine.

In another case, a pro-opposition TV host, Max Nazarov, was arrested on suspicion of advocating for Russia to start the conflict.

Another report talked about the disclosure of a spy network run by Russia’s domestic intelligence service the FSB. The group was said to be active in the capital city of Kiev and Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine. This could not be independently verified either.

Finally, in the Dnipropetrovsk region, the secret service claims to have uncovered a company that allegedly helped Russia build a nuclear weapons development laboratory. Russia, which is a nuclear power and has a stockpile of nuclear weapons, accuses Ukraine of seeking such weapons of mass destruction.
