Two Delta flight attendants ejected from the flight after failing a Breathalyzer test

Two Delta Air Lines flight attendants have been banned from work and issued fines after failing Breathalyzer tests before flying to Amsterdam last week. One of them is said to have drunk seven times more than the legal limit of alcohol.
According to industry publication One Mile At a Time, the incident occurred on Friday morning when Dutch police were conducting routine Breathalyzer tests on the crew of Flight 445 at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. Three of them were cited as exceeding the Netherlands’ legal limit of 0.02 for on-duty flight attendants.

The two were Delta flight attendants, both of whom were to work on a flight to John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City. Another was found to have a blood alcohol content of just over the limit at 0.024, and was fined 275 euros.

The second scored 0.143 – which is seven times the legal limit for flight attendants and almost twice the blood alcohol level allowed for driving in the US – and was fined a whopping 1,900 euros by the authorities.

“Delta’s alcohol policy is among the strictest in the industry and we have zero tolerance for violations,” a Delta spokesperson told FOX Business in a statement, confirming, “Employees were removed from their scheduled duties and the flight departed as scheduled.”

The third member of the flight crew who failed the inspection on Friday morning in Amsterdam was from a different airline. That person scored 0.13, more than six times the legal limit, and was fined 1,800 euros.

Dutch aviation regulations prohibit flight attendants from consuming any alcohol within 10 hours before a flight, which is stricter than many other countries, which prohibit flight attendants from consuming alcohol within eight hours before a flight.
