Scottie Pippen Thinks His Broken Relationship With MJ Is Irreparable
Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan were two of the best players to ever grace the basketball court, but that doesn’t mean they played well on the court.
Their relationship has soured publicly over the years and Pippen recently gave a real answer as to why he thinks their broken relationship will never be on the mend.
“I think Michael is a very difficult person to deal with,” Pippen said on the PBD podcast. “I have played with him for years so I know that if he has to move in your direction, then he will move in your direction. Don’t sit there and try to postpone or prolong that the relationship is not where it is or not as it is, and it will never be the same. So why try to do something out of nothing? Or are you trying to create something that has never existed?”
Scottie went on to explain that when he attended parties and social events with MJ in the BUlls, it wasn’t just the two of them, so they weren’t really that close.
“I think the last three championships we won, we trained together at his house, but other than that, we didn’t spend much time away from basketball. We used it most of the time when we were practicing or practicing,” he explained.
While Pippen has a clear dislike for his former teammate these days, he admitted that the breakdown of their friendship wasn’t all Jordan’s fault in his book.
“I rarely let our lack of intimacy bother me,” Pippen wrote. “I have many friends. However there are times, and watching the doc was one when I think about the relationship I wish we both had, and it hurts. It is very painful. I am by no means the pure party here. I missed an opening that could have made a difference, and I have to live with that.”
