Trump ‘brought out the playbook,’ experts say for his policy-focused inaugural address

President Donald Trump’s second inaugural address was a policy-oriented message of “hope and unity,” experts said.

Kevin Roberts, president of the conservative Heritage Foundation, called Trump’s speech “significant” in outlining the president’s plan for the next four years.

“Trump has been clear on policy from start to finish,” Roberts said. “And I think that’s something that will be remembered as a distinguishing feature of the speech, because people, Americans who wake up tomorrow watching the news, reading the news, will remember that Trump brought out the playbook.”

“America’s golden age begins now,” Trump said during his first address Monday on Capitol Hill.

“From today, our country will flourish and be respected all over the world,” he continued. “We will be the envy of all nations, and we will no longer allow ourselves to be taken advantage of. For every day of Trump’s administration, I will always put America first.”

Trump lashed out at the “brutal, violent and unjust weapons of the Justice Department” and the Biden-Harris administration on foreign and domestic affairs while the former president and vice president watched. Trump specifically noted the hurricane disasters in North Carolina and the recent fires ravaging Southern California.

Trump’s policy speech is “very important right now because of all the policy failures of the Biden-Harris administration,” Roberts told Fox News Digital on Monday. “And I know from the kind of work that Heritage is doing, not just in DC but in states across the country, that Trump’s base and a lot of independent voters voted for him this time. [were] looking for a policy plan, he presented it.”

“President Trump has officially started a new chapter for America,” Jessica Anderson, president of the conservative super PAC Sentinel Action Fund, told Fox News Digital on Monday. “His speech was one of hope and unity as he laid the foundation for the next four years of success, security and power.”

President Trump’s second inaugural address focused on policy and a message of “hope and unity,” experts said.

Both Roberts and Anderson noted that Trump’s speech was also a transition from fully announcing that he would take over the White House.

“As President Trump has made clear, he’s not going to waste time working for the American people, and he’s issued a slew of executive orders on everything from border security to gender equality,” Anderson said.

“There was no error in his criticism of his political opponents,” said Roberts. “But you don’t have to read much between the lines to understand that the big man is back in town. He’s going to take this country back.”

Trump’s speech reiterated his high priority on making America a “proud, prosperous and free nation,” echoing the sentiments of the New Frontier theme.

“We are one people, one family and one glorious nation under God,” Trump said. “So to every parent who dreams of their child and every child who dreams of their future, I am with you and I will fight for you and I will win and we will win in a way that has never been seen before.”

Roberts said, “I think Trump has put his finger on something that, at this point, is going to be an underappreciated part of his legacy, and that is the president of American innovation.”

“In other words, making America great and restoring the productivity and economic power of America to a level where innovation is so great that you can’t even fathom sitting here what it’s going to be.”

Roberts said such an invocation of the “true American spirit” in Trump’s speech reflected the “recovery of American manufacturing and economic power” during his second administration, a theme Roberts said Ronald Reagan and John F. Kennedy incorporated into theirs. opening addresses.
