Trump ‘brought out the playbook,’ experts say for his policy-focused inaugural address

President Donald Trump’s second inaugural address was a policy-oriented message of “hope and unity,” experts said.

Kevin Roberts, president of the conservative Heritage Foundation, called Trump’s speech “significant” in outlining the president’s plan for the next four years.

“Trump has been clear on policy from start to finish,” Roberts said. “And I think that’s something that will be remembered as a distinguishing feature of the speech, because people, Americans who wake up tomorrow watching the news, reading the news, will remember that Trump brought out the playbook.”

“America’s golden age begins now,” Trump said during his first address Monday on Capitol Hill.

Trump lashed out at the “brutal, violent and unjust weapons of the Justice Department” and the Biden-Harris administration on foreign and domestic affairs while the former president and vice president watched. Trump specifically noted the hurricane disasters in North Carolina and the recent fires ravaging Southern California.

“We have a government that has given unlimited funding to foreign border security but refuses to protect America’s borders or, more importantly, its people,” Trump said.

Trump’s policy speech is “very important right now because of all the policy failures of the Biden-Harris administration,” Roberts told Fox News Digital on Monday. “And I know from the kind of work that Heritage is doing, not just in DC but in states across the country, that Trump’s base and a lot of independent voters voted for him this time.
