German authorities, citizens attended this commemoration of 2 people killed in a knife attack
Berlin (AP) – Federal authorities and local residents went on a violent Sunday to honor a child and a man killed in a knife attack in Germany, which took place on February 20.
A religious service at the Collegiate Church in Aschaffenburg, Bavaria, was stopped briefly to pay the town bells at the precise time of the attack which occurred on Wednesday, 11:45 AM
The Governor of Bavaria Mödus Söder, the Mayor of Aschaffenburg Jürgen Hering and a Muslim leader faced a congregation that included rescuers, to express grief and disbelief at the loss of life. German Children’s Minister Nancy Faeser was there.

The attack is politically sensitive a month before Germany’s general election as migration policy is among the top campaign issues.
A 2-year-old boy of Moroccan origin, who was part of a group of children at a kindergarten, was killed, along with a 41-year-old German man who intervened to protect children in a city park. The suspect is a 28-year-old man who had been seeking asylum from Afghanistan who had been told to go through Germany. Authorities said they had received psychiatric treatment and there was no indication he was motivated by extremism.
Bavarian authorities said two adults and a 2-year-old Syrian girl were also injured in the attack and were hospitalized but their lives were not in danger.
