Buc-ee sues small garage chain for copyright, controversial cartoon dog logo too similar to its beaver
Buc-ee’s filed a lawsuit against a small Texas-based gas station for alleged copyright infringement, saying the Super Fuels logo is too similar to the Buc-ee’s logo.
A lawsuit filed by Buc-ee’s in US District Court alleges that Super Fuels’ cartoon dog with a cape logo closely resembles Buc-ee’s cartoon beaver wearing a hat, according to Fox 4.
In the lawsuit, Buc-ees, also based in Texas, says the Super Fuels logo prominently features “an anthropomorphic and cartoon image of a smiling beaver-like animal, standing in the same position at a right angle and displayed in front of a circular background.”

Buc-ees also pointed out that the two logos have similar expressions and colors.
The popular grocery chain argues in the lawsuit that the logos could confuse customers and that the confusion caused a loss in Buc-ee’s sales.

The lawsuit seeks a permanent injunction barring Super Fuels from using the dog logo, that Super Fuels pay the Buc-ee’s for any “ill-gotten gains” and that all signs, packaging and other items bearing the dog logo be destroyed.
