An ED official was attacked in New Delhi during a money laundering probe against organized cyber crime

During a search in Brijwasan, New Delhi, today (Thursday, November 28, 2024), suspect CA Ashok Sharma and his brother beat up an officer of the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The suspect managed to escape after attacking the police officer.
After this incident, a first information report (FIR) has been filed, and a search is on to find the suspect.
ED HIU today conducted simultaneous searches in multiple locations.
Search is open.
During the search, incriminating items were seized.
Thousands of cybercrimes (phishing, QR code, part-time scam, call center) reported to it were analyzed by ED with the help of FIU-IND.
It was discovered that an organized network of CAs and crypto brokers was operating.
About 15,000 mule accounts are used to distribute cybercrime proceeds.
Debit/credit cards were then received and used to top up virtual accounts on Pyypl.
