1 dead, 3 in critical condition after suspected drug overdose in Anaheim
One person is dead and three others are in critical condition following an alleged drug overdose at a party in Anaheim on Sunday, police said.
Police and paramedics responded to reports of people lying unconscious outside a building in the 1500 block of Benmore Lane at 1:09 a.m., said Sgt. Armando Pardo of the Anaheim Police Department.
First responders found four men in a grassy area in front of the building and a white powder nearby. Paramedics and police suspected that they had overdosed on drugs and began to provide assistance.
“It is not normal for four people to faint at the same time,” said Pardo.
The four men were taken to local hospitals. One has died and the other three are still in critical condition, said Pardo. Their ages were not available.
Hazardous materials personnel arrived to collect the white powder, which was tested. Police cordoned off the area for three hours. About 30 people were at the party when the police arrived, said Pardo. The deputy of the department is investigating, no one has been arrested yet, he said.
