Man goes to Bryson DeChambeau at home – and punches for one after 5 swings

Jimmy asked the question that everyone watching earlier was wondering.

What would be what happens if he breaks the window?

Bryson DeChambeau, however, had things covered. Literally. Jimmy should be one in the middle at DeChambeau’s home when he tried to drop the ball over and into the hole behind the house, nets set up near the makeshift tee box to catch strays.

What goes down in a video released Thursday by DeChambeau, a two-time major winner, was no ordinary golfer, shooting for second, and DeChambeau has become a star in that space, doing so on the booming YouTube medium. There, try to break 50 of the top players. He gave lessons. He’s tried challenges – including one recently that captured both curiosity and clicks.

Can he open a hole on top of his house? The shot was about 100 yards. The height of his roof was 33 meters. DeChambeau didn’t try. In Thursday’s video, DeChambeau was giving money to a sponsor for various challenges, and the last one brought a man named Jimmy to his house to try out a six-person pay day. He can take as many turns as he likes — from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and DeChambeau thought he would, even though it would be a marathon.

Jimmy’s guess was that he would need 5 hours and 43 minutes.

“I think there will be ups and downs in this challenge for him,” DeChambeau said in the video. “Of course he will struggle from the start. He will not be free. He will never know how far he will hit. What is a 95 yard shot? As we tell him where the balls are falling, where they are going, I think he will start to get into their lane. Then about three hours in, you’ll start to struggle. It will be a lot. His back is going to hurt, everything is going to hurt, and I think in 5 hours, 43 minutes or something like that, he’s finally going to do it.”

Did you shoot one? Coming off a 54-degree wedge, his ball was long. “Hey, I got the net,” said Jimmy. “I was very happy about that.”
