Altadena boy describes the terrifying moments leading up to losing his home

Homes and businesses in Southern California are still burning tonight and there is no end in sight.

Celebrities are taking to social media to express their dismay at losing their homes and luxury cars, but one family in Altadena is mourning the loss of something more.

In an interview with Fox 11, the Altadena boy stands next to his mother and brother. In the background, you can see the thick, brick sides of what looks like a house, and the charred remains of many other homes that were lost.

The little boy seems to be in control as he recounts the terrifying circumstances that led to the loss of his home while holding on to the only two things he has left in this world.

“Then – he lost his strength… then we went to get our father, but he was coming. Then we got strong, the torches, they are very good and I went and they woke us up, me and my brother. Then we left our house,” said the boy.

He said things in the house were burned, including his expensive 3D printer.

“It was special to me and it will make me a little sad, but, I don’t know why, but this is what happened in our house,” said the boy. “And a lot of my favorite things are gone. And now, and everything is broken and everything has lost its color and stuff. And these are the only things I have.”

A boy who seems disappointed shows the remains of his father’s and mother’s bicycles to the reporter and said that he wanted to get to where they lived to make sure what was broken and see what was left.

“I wanted to check it to see if it was broken and my father took a video showing that it was broken,” he said. “We went here today, so we know what happened and it was our chimney where Santa came and now he’s gone. Now we can’t get presents here anymore.”

This is the case for thousands of people as wildfires rage everywhere.

The mother took to social media to express her dismay at the incident as the family tries to put their lives back together. He said the brand new 3D printer mentioned in his son’s speech was one they had been waiting a year for.

He revealed how quickly it happened, he said it was very fast and he didn’t think much about the fire until it grew, fueled by the wind.

“Everything happened quickly. We thought there would be time to return, to save a lot of our belongings, but within 5 hours, the whole neighborhood was burned. We grabbed our children, our two dogs, and left with what little we had. You can carry,” said his post. We were blessed to find a hotel in DTLA where we have been since Wednesday morning. Although we are thankful that we are safe, the pain of losing everything is too great. People often say, ‘The most important thing is that you are alive. ‘ While that is true, it does not take away the pain of loss.”

Fox News Digital reached out to the family for comment but, understandably, they, like many families, have a lot to do as they rebuild what they’ve worked so hard for.

The Eaton fire, burning in the Pasadena-Altadena area northeast of Los Angeles, is one of many fires ravaging the City of Angeles. About 30,000 hectares have been affected by the fires and nearly 15,000 homes and structures are at risk as of Thursday – up from 13,000 as of Wednesday morning. Firefighters are struggling to contain the wildfires, which are being driven by strong Santa Ana winds.
