John Daly undergoes hand surgery, expects to be back ‘in no time’

John Daly said Tuesday he is recovering from “emergency hand surgery.”

The two-time major champion revealed the news on Instagram, saying the procedure in Tampa, Florida, went “great” while thanking her doctor for “fixing me.” The post was accompanied by a photo of Daly in a hospital bed with his left hand tightly bandaged.

Daly, 58, did not say what led him to undergo surgery but revealed that he will not be out of action for long.

“Come back and play soon,” he wrote.

Daly, always a fan favorite, played 16 events on the PGA Tour Champions in 2024, making 15 of them. The 50-and-over tour has sent the colorful Daly well wishes after his surgery.

“I wish John Daly a speedy recovery!” wrote to X.

Daly won the 1991 PGA Championship at Crooked Stick after making the field as par nine, wowing fans with his big shots and “grip-it-and-rip-it” style. He also won the 1995 Open Championship in St. Andrews.
