Rudolph W. Giuliani has reached a settlement with two Georgia election workers he repeatedly, and falsely, said helped steal the 2020 election.
The former mayor of New York was at risk of losing millions of dollars worth of personal memorabilia, valuables and real estate that he collected over decades of legal practice and public office. He was previously ordered to pay about $11 million of a $148 million judgment he owed to election workers, Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Shaye Moss, who claimed they tampered with the ballots.
Full details about the settlement have not been released. Mr. Giuliani said he was completely victorious and said he would hold on to everything valuable, including a 10-room apartment on the Upper East Side, a classic Mercedes-Benz convertible and a signed Joe DiMaggio jersey.
The plaintiffs said through their legal team they agreed to let Mr. Giuliani keep his assets in exchange for an undisclosed settlement and his promise not to abuse women again.
“We fought to clear our names, regain our dignity and proof that we have done nothing wrong,” said the women in a statement. “Today is a milestone in our journey. We have come to an agreement and now we can move on with our lives.”
Joseph Cammarata, the lawyer of Mr. Giuliani said outside court Thursday that negotiations had been reached “in the last 72 hours,” and that his client was satisfied with the outcome.
In the statement, Mr. Giuliani said he would keep his assets, including his Manhattan condominium and Palm Beach, Fla., condo.
The decision came after a surprising day in court, where Mr. Giuliani was expected to decide to plead for the right to keep the Florida mansion and the Yankees’ three World Series rings.
But he didn’t show up.
For hours, lawyers filled the courtroom in Lower Manhattan, and the judge, Lewis J. Liman, did not take the bench.
The reason for the absence of Mr. Giuliani was not immediately clear, but an hour after the trial began, a video was posted on his X account of a lap dog named Vinny wearing a tie with the name Trump on it.
