After a cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hamas went into effect Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. local time in Israel, which is 1:30 a.m. ET, the three female hostages are the first expected to be released.
As of Saturday, at 8 pm ET, Israel was still waiting on the list of hostages to be released first.
The Israeli Cabinet approved an agreement early Saturday for a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of Israeli hostages taken after Israel’s unprovoked attack on Hamas on October 7, 2023.
Phase One of the deal begins Sunday with the release of the first three hostages and lasts 42 days.

At that time, a total of 33 hostages will be released, priority will be given to children, women, female soldiers, people over the age of 50, and sick or injured men. More than a thousand Palestinian prisoners will be returned to Gaza.
Most of the Israeli hostages are believed to be alive, but their identities will not be revealed until closer to their release.
Four other captives will be released on the seventh day and three others will be released on the 14th day, which is more important for women.
The other three captives will be released again on the 28th day and again on the 35th day.
Between 35 and 42 days, hostages Avera Mengistu and Hisham al-Sayed, both held in Gaza since 2014 and 2015, will be released.

In the last week of the first phase, 12 hostages will be released.

On the 16th day of Phase One, negotiations will begin with Phase Two, which is expected to include the release of all remaining Israeli captives, including young men, soldiers, and fallen soldiers.
The Second Phase will begin on day 43 and last another 42 days.
The Israeli government decided that the Israeli Defense Forces will remain in Gaza until the last hostage is released, but they will return to the security zone along the Gaza border that provides security for the residents living there.
