“One cannot deny that there are memories in that building, memories of my children. And I really wish I could actually take one simple photo of them when they were young. I did not take anything out of this home, because I did not expect at all that this would be the target of Israel, not for one second. Yesterday I was here, today I am here, I will look for anything I can get out, which reminded me of my children.”
The building was home to many families of Lebanese professionals such as doctors and lawyers, residents of the building told Reuters, in what they described as an act of terror against defenseless civilians with no ties to the conflict.
An Israeli airstrike destroyed a building near a busy area of Beirut on Friday (November 15), shaking the Lebanese capital as Israel continued its bombardment of Hezbollah-controlled areas of the city.
In one of the airstrikes on Friday morning, the attack struck near the Tayouneh intersection, in the area where the southern areas controlled by Hezbollah meet other parts of the city, a target that is more than most attacked by Israel.
Israel this week stepped up airstrikes on southern areas controlled by Hezbollah – an increase that coincided with indications of a US-led diplomatic move to end the conflict.
