VP Duterte, Senator Tulfo are the most popular Filipino leaders in 2028 – poll

VICE President Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio and Senator Rafael T. Tulfo emerged as the most popular Filipino presidential candidates in the 2028 national elections, according to research firm WR Numero.
In its September survey, WR Numero found that nearly one in four (24%) Filipinos said they would vote for Ms. Duterte and Mr. Duterte. Tulfo as president in 2028 if the election is held between September 5 and September 23.
The results showed Ms. Duterte slipping by 5 percentage points, while Mr. Tulfo gained by 3 points.
Hansley A. Juliano, who teaches political science at the Ateneo de Manila University, said both top contenders “may have benefited from the same networks of Internet content and information or disinformation” as most Filipinos have experienced over the years.
“Whether you like it or not, the Duterte brand still has an audience as every year the Dutertes come out of the top national positions and the law office because of their honesty,” he said. BusinessWorld in a Facebook Messenger chat.
“Ironically, the Tulfo brand may be even stronger, especially since Raffy Tulfo seems to be the culmination of the ‘tough guy’ image he and his brothers have cultivated for decades, and is arguably the ‘no brainer/approachable guy’ to them. ,” he added.
Mrs. Duterte and Mr. Tulfo was followed by then Vice President Maria Leonor G. Robredo (9%), Senators Mary Grace Natividad S. Poe-Llaanzares, and Maria Imelda Josefa R. Marcos (5%), the survey found.
Next were Senator Ana Theresia N. Hontiveros-Baraquel (4%), former Senator Emmanuel D. Pacquiao, Sr. (4%), and Senator Robinhood Ferdinand C. Padilla (3%). House Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez finished with only 1%.
The survey said that almost two in 10 Filipinos (18%) are still not sure who to vote for.
Mr. Tulfo, who is known for his broadcast journalism, leads in all regions except Mindanao, where the incumbent vice president is popular (65%).
Mr. Tulfo is elected by 31 percent in Metro Manila, followed by Ms. Robredo (13%), and Ms. Duterte (9%).
Ms. Duterte and former vice president, Ms. Robredo, tied for Luzon (11%), but Mr. Tulfo continued to lead with 26%.
One in four (25%) will vote for Mr. Tulfo in the Visayas, Ms. Duterte trailing behind at 17%.
Mrs. Duterte is the top choice among respondents from ABC (24%) and E (26%), while Mr. Tulfo receiving the highest support from Class D, with 27%. According to the Philippine Institute for Development Studies, consumer classes are the ABCDE system of residential classification from the richest (A) to the poorest (E).
Among the determined voters, Mrs. Poe emerged as the presidential front-runner, favored by nearly one in five Filipinos (20%). He is followed by former Vice President Robredo with 14% and Mr. Padilla by 9%.
And among the five who were chosen to be the vice president there was Mrs. Marcos and Mr. Pacquiao, both with 8 percent, was followed by Senator Juan Miguel F. Zubiri (4%), Defense Secretary Gilberto C. Teodoro (3%), and Mr. Romualdez (3%).
Mrs. Poe led in all regions except Mindanao, where Mr. Padilla held the top spot with 17%, closely followed by Mr. Pacquiao by 16%.
Ms. Poe and Ms. Robredo is statistically tied for third place in Mindanao, each with 14%.
The outgoing member of parliament also led in all categories of income, while Mrs. Robredo ranked second outside of Class ABC, where she ranked third (14%), slightly behind Mrs. Marcos (15%).
The findings are part of WR Numero’s Philippine Public Opinion Monitor, which conducted a face-to-face survey with 1,729 adults nationwide.
