An IndiGo flight makes an emergency landing at the Kochi airport due to a technical problem
An IndiGo flight carrying 140 passengers from Bengaluru to Male made an emergency landing at the Kochi International Airport on Tuesday afternoon, due to a technical problem.
According to statements by the airline and airport officials, the flight faced a technical problem, which led to it diverting to Kochi airport, where it landed safely at around 2.21 pm. IndiGo confirmed that its flight 6E1127, operating from Bengaluru to Male, was diverted to Kochi due to a technical problem.
“The aircraft will return to service after appropriate repairs, and another has been arranged to facilitate the movement of passengers to their destination,” the airline said, “apologising for the inconvenience” to passengers.
Meanwhile, Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) said it successfully handled the “emergency landing” of the IndiGo flight. “An emergency was declared at 14.05 hrs, the plane landed safely at 14.21 hrs.
The state of emergency was immediately withdrawn at 14.28 hrs following the safe completion of the operation,” CIAL said in a statement.
The plane was carrying 140 people, including 136 passengers and four crew “Among the passengers were 91 Indians and 49 foreigners, including 71 men, 56 women, 9 children, and 4 infants. CIAL’s readiness and immediate response is assured for the safety of all passengers and crew,” the statement said.
