How much would you pay to play a Top 100 Course in the US, according to … you!

Our professional course partners get their say in evaluating the best golf courses on American soil every two years, as they recently did in our 2024-25 Top Courses in the US. But our readers – you! – Have ideas, experiences and dreams of playing Pine Valley, too. Here we’ll highlight a few factoids and tee time dreams that emerged from GOLF’s Top 100 Courses 2024 in the American Student Survey.

The great philosopher Epictetus first pointed out that true wealth “does not consist in having a great deal of wealth, but in having a few things that are lacking.”

But where, in the grand scheme of things propertyexperience?

Take, for example, the new GOLF ranking of the Top 100 Courses in the US A list of this kind is, in fact, an exercise in wanting. To be ranked among the top golf courses in the United States is to admit a certain level of desirability. And ambition is often best described in cold, hard cash.

How much would it be? you paid for a tee time at Augusta National? What time is afternoon in Pine Valley? Can you shell out more for a 36-hole day at Pebble Beach and the Monterey Peninsula? How about a 54-hole weekend at those two and Cypress Point?

The point here is that money fueling the world of golf as we know it. To pierce the pinnacles of power, you need wealth of both literal and metaphorical form. And to punch all 100, well, that luck would need to be great.

But that’s what you think search piercing the peaks of power, and this is where we find the analysis of today’s story. As part of GOLF’s annual exercise to rank the world’s greatest golf courses, we did some sampling youour readers, to find answers to all the many questions related to golf course structures. The answers we got were telling as they lit up, lifting the curtain on how golf looked at … the world of golf.

One question of particular interest to GOLF editors is the following: How much can you pay for a tee time at any of our top 100 courses in the US? The responses, as listed below, were overwhelming.

An astounding 35 percent of golfers responded that they would not spend more than $100 on a tee, while nearly 25 percent said they would pay $500 or more. The majority of our readers (50.58 percent) said they would not pay more than $200 for a Top 100 in the afternoon.
