An NHL goaltender mysteriously puts the go-ahead goal into his own net

Charlie Lindgren gave the Tampa Bay Lightning the biggest gift any team could ask for on Wednesday night.
Lindgren hosted the Washington Capitals in Florida on Thanksgiving Eve with the game tied at 3 in the third quarter.
After all, because of him it was gone.

As the puck entered Washington’s defensive end zone, Lindgren came out of the crease to make the play. Lindgren intended to pass it to one of the teammates, but the net blocked him.
Instead of passing, Lindgren returned the puck directly to his net, giving the Lightning a 4-3 lead.
Thanks to the Caps that the mind-blowing goal did not crush them too much as they ended up winning the game.

About three minutes after the foul, John Carlson tied the game with his third goal of the season. After that, with about five minutes left in regulation, the Caps went ahead, and Tom Wilson scored the game-winning goal.
Lindgren entered the tournament with a 2.64 GAA. Unfortunately for him that number went up with his job.
Lindgren led the NHL in shutouts last year with six, finishing eighth in the Vezina poll in what was a career year.
