Traffic is stopped on Capital City Freeway Sacramento as police investigate
(FOX40.COM) — Traffic is stopped and lanes are closed on the Capital City Freeway (Business 80) due to an ongoing investigation, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At approximately 4 p.m., CHP responded to the scene on Business 80 (SB-51) south of the American River Bridge. Details of the incident are unclear, however, police said they are investigating and avoiding the area. They also said “there is no risk to the motoring community.”

Video footage shows several cars attempting to make U-turns into oncoming traffic on the highway. Some passengers said they had been stuck in one place for almost an hour.
Around 5 p.m., Caltrans announced that the routes had reopened but commuters should still expect some delays.
