German Chancellor Scholz arrives in Kiev to discuss with Zelensky
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived in Kiev for the first time in two and a half years to speak with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a visit that was not previously announced for security reasons.
When he arrived, the German leader announced another arms delivery worth 650 million euros ($684 million) in late December for Ukraine to defend against Russia.
“I would like to make it clear here that Germany will remain a strong supporter of Ukraine in Europe,” said Scholz, who traveled to the Ukrainian capital by special train.
Scholz’s last visit to the country was in June 2020.
