Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving is accused of demanding nearly $400,000 from a health and wellness company that he claims failed to pay for their services in strange situations.
Irving hired Elite Mind Solutions and therapist Natasha McCartney for a vacation he planned for family and friends from June 28 to July 2 this year, TMZ reported.
Initially, the expected number of people to attend the event was 50-60, but it is said that the number increased to 115 days before the event, and the final number was about 150 people.
The lawsuit says the company fulfilled all agreed-upon treatment and exercise sessions. Additionally, when a participant died tragically during a retreat, McCartney provided counseling and grief management support.
Invoices sent to Irving totaled $390,710, but the lawsuit says he failed to make the payments.
Attorney Michael Faragalla, representing McCartney, said The Independent, “After directly contacting Kyrie Irving and his colleagues, Mr. He couldn’t even pick up the phone and call Natasha McCartney, so he didn’t try to resolve it. [the situation] before the actual installation [of the lawsuit]. Yes, he was retained by a lawyer, and of course, his manager and his agent got involved and made several incidents of disrespect, but Kyrie Irving himself did not try to fix it.
Additional details reported by the Independent state that the retreat was interrupted on June 30 when “the program and retreat came to a halt due to the tragic death of a participant in the event.” After the incident, McCartney allegedly assumed responsibility for “crisis management and bereavement services.”
According to the lawsuit, McCartney asked her husband, a “retired NYPD 1st Detective from the internal affairs division,” to help with security and contact government officials. He also served as “a liaison between the family and North Dakota State Police to secure the crime scene of a deceased family member,” the lawsuit states.
“He provided important information to ensure that visitors are not investigated [police]assisted in the immediate removal of Kyrie from the scene to avoid media exposure, and assisted the Coroner with family viewing arrangements and transportation,” the lawsuit continued.
