A Wichita County grand jury has indicted a former church employee on charges of indecency with a child.
The team crowned Nathan Lee McDonald of Wichita Falls on Wednesday, December 4th.
McDonald, 44, was released Monday from the Wichita County Jail on $100,000 bail, according to online jail records.
Anyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
A church worker has been charged with sexual assault brought by a 16-year-old child.
The lawsuit alleges that McDonald slept with a child under the age of 17.
According to affidavits filed in the case, McDonald was the assistant director of the Chaparral Baptist Assembly Camp in Iowa Park when he was arrested on charges of indecency with a child by sexual contact.
A probable cause affidavit alleges that the girl complained that her clothes were being touched when she was 16 years old and working at a camp in the summer of 2023. The affidavit alleges that another employee witnessed “misbehavior” between McDonald and McDonald. a girl.
A monitored phone call showed McDonald apologizing to the girl, saying, “I know you trusted me and I betrayed that trust,” according to the affidavit.
McDonald was arrested on the charge on February 21. He posted $100,000 bail and was released the next day.
In Texas, sexual misconduct with a child is a second-degree felony, and a conviction can carry a prison sentence of up to 20 years.
