The man accused of raping a Suburban Cincinnati Subway employee at gunpoint, robbed the store
Sharonville police are seeking information on a man accused of raping a Subway employee at gunpoint Thursday morning.
Leyard Eckis, 20, is charged with rape and aggravated robbery in Hamilton County Municipal Court. Judge Heather Russell set her bond at $100,000 during an arraignment Friday morning, court records show.
Police said in the affidavit that Eckis followed the victim into the restaurant before holding her at gunpoint, forcing her to undress and raping her. He then stole money from the cash machine and fled the scene on a bicycle, the document said.
Police were dispatched to the Mosteller Road restaurant after seven in the morning and rushed to a nearby gas station, where they found Eckis with a gun and money, police said.
When Eckis spoke with police, he admitted to taking money from the business and “sleeping with the victim,” the document said.
Police said Eckis’ arrest was based on video evidence and the victim’s statements to investigators.
Robert Jones, Eckis’ public defender, declined to comment on the case Friday.
Eckis was booked into the Hamilton County Justice Center Thursday morning. The grand jury is expected to hear his case on December 23.
Anyone with information about Eckis is asked to contact the Sharonville Police Department at 513-563-1147.
