Up to 20 inches of snow is forecast for Cascade Pass
A winter storm warning for snow accumulations of up to 20 inches is forecast over Oregon’s Cascade Mountain from Sunday evening into Tuesday.
The warning starts at 8pm on Sunday and remains in effect until 10am on Tuesday.
“Walking could be very difficult to do,” the National Weather Service said.
The heaviest snow is forecast above 4,000 feet, where up to 20 inches is possible. At elevations between 3,000 and 4,000 feet, 4 to 10 inches are possible.
A winter storm warning is in effect for Oregon’s Cascade Mountain area between 8pm Sunday and 10am Tuesday.
The storm should have major impacts on Highway 20 over Santiam and Tombstone, Highway 58 over the Willamette Pass and south of Cascade Mountain past Diamond Lake and Crater Lake, and between Medford and Klamath Falls .
It will also affect the Mount Hood area, although less so in the Government Camp area below 4,000 feet.
Anyone who must travel should have a winter emergency driving kit readily available. General items to include: flashlight, batteries, blankets, shovel, water, non-perishable food and tire chains.
